I've been rereading the Lord of the Rings for the first time in probably 20 years (Jeez, when did I get so old?) and it's been inspiring me to write a lot more lately, which is always good. On that note, I wanted to share some music videos done by Peter Hollens based on songs from the series. I like them, and I hope you do too, enjoy!
Also as a bonus, the Ed Sheeran video "I See Fire".
Thank you these beautiful songs.
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, I went music-browsing after I first watched the Hobbit movie. When the song 'Misty Mountains' came on, I was inspired, which lead to me going around looking for similar songs, which was how I discovered Wardruna. Wardruna is essentially nordic-folk... but their songs make me want to dance like a crazy fucker in some dark forest!
ReplyDeleteWardruna is the soundtrack that I listened to whenever I read your story. Whenever a new chapter came out for Rebellion, I always played Wardruna, generally starting on Dagr. Now that their third album came out last year, I've started doing it again, Runaljod, Urur, Tyr and Odal is on repeat. Essentially, whenever I read Conquest... I secretly wish to be a naked, paint slathered viking-gaesatae Cantabrian! (Such is the power of Einar Selvik)
So essentially, Wardruna turns a world filled with orcs and orc-sex into a god-damn epic saga.
I wish I could read LOTR, but whenever I start it, I am always confused by the way in which the story is written. Funnily enough though, I can read viking saga's with little problem (In english though), and that is roughly forty percent of what inspired Tolkien. (Geez my ancestral people were violent as fuck, the Norse are just plain fucking harsh!)
